Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I ride motorcycles if I have just a car license?

No, you need a motorcycle license. However, if you have a category B (car) license, you can apply for an A1 motorcycle license (125cc, max. 11kW) by completing a mandatory course – no exam is required!

A good motorcycle school should provide everything you need, including a motorcycle and rental gear. Personalized support is key – look for a school that not only offers driving lessons but also courses that suit your needs. Ask how they typically work with beginners to get a feel for their approach.

  • Honda Rebel 500 or Yamaha MT03 – These are great motorcycles for short riders. They’re easy to handle and help build confidence quickly.
  • Vespa Primavera – The perfect scooter for those worried about weight and height.

Yes, but you must display an “L” plate on your vehicle. The fine for failing to do so is CHF 20.

Confidence comes with control, knowledge, experience, and fun! If you’ve never ridden before, start with a guided first ride. If you already have some experience but feel anxious, 1-on-1 coaching with a patient instructor can make a huge difference. A good instructor listens to your concerns and helps you overcome them step by step.
