You have three tries to pass the driving exam in Switzerland without additional hurdles. After the third failed attempt, you must undergo a driving aptitude test (verkehrspsychologische Untersuchung), which will cost you around 600 CHF. This is an evaluation by a traffic psychologist to assess whether you’re fit to continue trying for your license.

Thanks to my many years of experience and background in TA (Psychology & Communication), I offer a unique approach that’s tailored to your specific needs. Our goal is to pass the third attempt.

1️⃣ Understand what went wrong

✔️ Get detailed feedback – Understand exactly why you failed and how to improve. Please bring your written exam papers.
✔️ Analyze your ride – Were nerves affecting you? Did you struggle with specific situations? We’ll break it down.
✔️ Setting priorities – Master the art of prioritizing in challenging situations.

2️⃣ Train smarter, not harder

✔️ Targeted skill improvement – Master slow-speed exercises, braking, normal driving and mountain roads.
✔️ Live helmet communication – Instant corrections while riding to fine-tune your technique.
✔️ Video analysis – Gain deeper insights with 360° camera footage, allowing for detailed feedback on your riding technique

3️⃣ Overcome exam fear

✔️ Live riding demo – See how a professional rides and implement tips to improve your riding style.
✔️ Predict & React – Improve decision-making in real-life traffic situations.
✔️ Mental training & examination fear – Learn how to stay calm and ride at your best, even under pressure.

3️⃣ Prove you can do it

✔️ Exam simulation – I believe in the four-eye principle. You’ll have a mock exam with an ex-examiner.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What does the motorcycle exam look like in Zürich?

The Swiss motorcycle exam lasts 50–60 minutes in total and consists of the following steps:
✔ Initial check: Verification of papers, gear, and motorcycle condition.
✔ Slow riding exercises: Includes straight slow driving, figure-eight, slalom and emergency braking.
✔ Traffic ride: After passing the slow maneuvers, the examiner rides on the back while assessing your road skills (they’ll tell you which way to go by tapping your shoulder).

To take the exam, you must wear full protective gear, including:
✔ Certified helmetMust meet ECE 22.05 or ECE 22.06 safety standards.
Protective clothingYour jacket, pants and gloves need to be certified for motorcyles (look for the little motorcycle logo).
Shoes/Boots – Sturdy, ankle-covering footwear. Hiking boots are also allowed, provided the shoelaces are tucked away.

Many candidates underestimate the difficulty of the exam because it’s easy to get on the street with the learner’s permit. Examiners expect riders to showcase proper control under exam conditions. Fail reason NR1 Slow driving Parkour. NR2 Anticipation. You can book the exam twice by yourself. The third time, you need a education confirmation from a registerd driving school. After failing 3 times, you need to take a driving aptitude test administered by a psychologist. Many people quit at this point. That’s why it’s important to prepare yourself the first time propperly.

Typically, 5 lessons are enough. However, more may be needed if the student has no prior driving experience (e.g. has never driven a car before). The number of lessons depends on knowledge, moto control, kilometers driven and confidence.

✔ The A35 (restricted) and A (unlimited) motorcycle exams follow the same scheme, including:

  • Gear and motorcycle check
  • Slow riding exercises
  • Emergency stop
  • Traffic ride
